2015 WR Fessler commits to Northwestern

The Erie (Pa.) Cathedral HS wideout became No. 13 in the Class of 2015.

For the second time this month, an under-recruited talent joined Northwestern without much fanfare.

Charlie Fessler, a 6-foot-4 receiver with offers from Nebraska, Boston College and Western Michigan pledged to NU Monday. He tweeted a photo of himself posed by Ryan Field's Wildcat statue to make the news official.

Fessler earned an offer from Northwestern after standing out at a team camp June 12, and didn't take long to make the jump after taking visits at BC and Penn State. Fessler had relationships with Adam Cushing and Dennis Springer.

It's a huge get for the Wildcats, who desperately needed a receiver in their Class of 2015. Mehdi El Attrach and Cameron Green are still realistic targets. Recent offer Jelani Roberts also visits NU campus today.

As a junior at Erie Cathedral, Fessler caught 41 passes in 14 games, tallying six touchdowns and over 600 receiving yards.

"I've been pretty interested," Fessler told PW's Nick Medline last week after receiving his offer. "I was down there with my parents and my older brother. This was really a school that we wanted."

Fessler becomes the 13th member of the Class of ‘15. Stay tuned for more from PurpleWildcats.com.
