Roberts becomes Monday's second NU commit.

2015 wide receiver Jelani Roberts of Baltimore (Md.) Gilman HS committed to Northwestern on Monday night.

2015 wide receiver Jelani Roberts of Baltimore (Md.) Gilman told on Monday night that he committed to Northwestern.

Roberts brings sub-4.4 speed to the Wildcats, who also added Erie (Pa.) Cathedral wideout Charlie Fessler earlier in the day.

NU entered the day with 12 commits, but without a single receiver for the class. Tony Jones and Christian Jones will graduate this offseason, leaving a void at the position.

But the recruiting success only continued. The Wildcats now have 14 official commits, and might even add another receiver to its group.

Roberts, like Fessler, camped at Evanston two weeks ago. After an excellent showing, he picked up his offer and moved quickly to take the spot. Roberts visited campus today and took the spot.

NU was active in searching out several wideout targets, which led to a mix of speed (Roberts) and size (Fessler).

The ‘Cats also host Mehdi El Attrach of Orlando (Fla.) Lake Nona HS this week and are still pursuing Cameron Green of Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson.

NU currently sits with a top-25 recruiting class.
