Northwestern offers 2015 QB/ATH Lloyd Yates

With NU "in his blood," Lloyd Yates picked up an offer from Northwestern on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Northwestern offered Lloyd Yates — which could put an end to the quarterback recruiting saga.

Yates, an Oak Park (IL) standout, could “maybe” commit shortly after the offer. Yates’ brother, father and grandfather all attended NU.

“It’s in our blood,” Yates told in April.

Yates threw well in front of offensive coordinator Mick McCall in early May, and McCall clearly considers him good enough for the Wildcats. Yates was specifically offered as a QB/ATH — given his ability at slot receiver.

It should be no insult that Yates was not the “first priority” for Northwestern. The Wildcats liked him but pursued four-star quarterback Travis Waller and Elite 11 ace Sam Darnold.

Yates told that he had yet to tell his parents about the offer upon tweeting it. When he does, expect long deliberation about an early commitment.

Yates waited a while for the offer, but might not take long for the commitment.
