Practice Notes: Harris Out

A few updates from Northwestern's Thursday practice.

- The biggest development from Thursday was the absence of Matthew Harris, who was held out of drills while wearing a boot. When I asked Pat Fitzgerald how the cornerback was doing, he responded, “fabulous.”

- The “up downs” from Wednesday’s practice were seen again Thursday, though things weren’t quite as intense.

- The offense mostly worked on bubble passes and short routes. Running backs rotated by committee with the first team, and with clearer skies, Zack Oliver and Matt Alviti made sharper throws. Still, the defense edged the offense Thursday, and Alviti had a few troubling moments where he missed a man and opted to scramble without much room.

- Eric Olson continues to play with the first team at right tackle, despite pressure from Jack Konopka. Fitzgerald said Wednesday that Adam DePietro may get looks at the position too.

- Garrett Dickerson had one of his most active practices of the season, and lined up with the first team on several occasions.

- Stephen Buckley continues to play with the wide receivers, something that Cameron Dickerson acknowledged after practice.
