Practice Notes: Tony Jones Returns

A few updates from Northwestern's Tuesday practice.

- The biggest development from Tuesday's session was the return of Tony Jones, who suited up and participated in all drills. Jones was listed as day-to-day by Pat Fitzgerald, and wasn't included in Monday's wide receiver depth chart. Nevertheless, NU's No. 1 target is back, and aside from a dropped deep pass, he looked good.

- Northwestern spent the majority of its practice working on, you guessed it, short passes. When asked about the passing game, Dan Vitale said, "It's on Trevor to make the reads." Pierre Youngblood-Ary stood out with the lone long reception during the scrimmage.

- After serving his one-game suspension, defensive tackle C.J. Robbins was back on the line and practicing with the first team.

- Midway through practice, Fitzgerald called a team huddle and yelled about the Wildcats losing their 11-point fourth-quarter lead at Happy Valley back in 2012. It seemed to get the team fired up, though a good portion of key players were not at Northwestern two years ago...

- At a relatively quiet practice, one moment stood out: During a scrimmage set, Mick McCall was heard yelling, "I hope we don't get anyone injured, holy shit."
