Northwestern DT Sean McEvilly has been granted a sixth year of NCAA eligibility. The senior tackle, who missed seven games last year and all of this season with a foot injury, will play in 2015-16.
McEvilly started 10 games for the Wildcats in 2012, and played in five in '13 before getting shut down. The defensive tackle unit struggled early this fall, but C.J. Robbins, Greg Kuhar and Chance Carter have all played well against the run recently.
McEvilly is an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a member of Northwestern football’s 12-person Leadership Council.
