Coach gives the Thumbs Up!

Ross Lane, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound wide receiver from Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot is committed to Northwestern. What can the Wildcat fans expect from this fine receiver from the Sunshine State.

"Ross is one of the most incredible athletes I've ever coached," said Bishop Verot head coach Mike Marciano.

"Ross runs a 4.54 40-yard dash and he's a leaper. He'll get up in the air and catch anything thrown his way. Ross is a game breaker"

How did Lane end up picking the Wildcats?

"Northwestern was one of the schools that came by my school in the spring and they saw me practice.

"This summer I camped at Northwestern and Michigan." Lane said. "I also visited Purdue. All the schools were very nice. Northwestern offered me a scholarship after camp and I accepted.

"Northwestern is a great school and they won the Big Ten Conference three times in the past 10 years.

"Northwestern passes the ball a lot and that played a part in my decision as well."

Lane had interest from Purdue, Michigan, Duke, Wake Forest, Iowa, Michigan State, Miami and several other schools.

He had 800 yards receiving and scored 10 touchdowns in 2002.
