DE Barry Cofield 6-4 260 4.64 Cleveland Heights, Ohio
Northwestern had nearly 40 prep prospects on hand this past Saturday for their comeback victory over Michigan State. Randy Walker and his staff are starting to reap the rewards of that victory as one of the top prospects in Ohio verbally committed to the Wildcats.
"Yes, I'm committed to Northwestern." Cofield said. "For me, it wasn't a hard decision. Besides having a good football team, Northwestern offers a great education. I was at the Michigan State game and besides the game being great, I just felt very comfortable with the players and the coaches.
Randy Walker is from Ohio and the coach that's recruiting me, (Jack) Glowik is from Maple Heights, Ohio. So there's an Ohio connection there.
I had 17 scholarship offers. I chose Northwestern over Georgia Tech, Boston College, Pitt, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
I feel I have the determination of John Randle and I try and get after it like "The Freak" Jevon Kearse.
I'm going to (officially) visit Northwestern on November 30th."
Barry Cofield is a three-year starter. As a junior, he had 65 tackles, eight sacks and a fumble recovery.
Cofield carries a 3.4 GPA in the classroom and he scored 28 on his ACT.
