Akeem Hunter, a 6-foot, 205-pound running back from Chicago (Leo) has verbally committed to Northwestern.
Hunter camped at Northwestern this past summer and was offered a scholarship at this time.
Akeem flew under the radar for most of the 2003 season but he still had some impressive scholarship offers.
"I committed to Coach (Randy) Walker last night," Hunter said.
"I love football, don't get me wrong but I come from an academic background and football isn't forever.
"Northwestern is one of the best academic institutions in the world and its close to home, so it was an easy decision for me.
"Michigan State, Indiana, Western Michigan, Ball State and Northern Illinois were the other schools that had offered me a scholarship.
"My commitment is solid. I'll probably take me official visit in December."
Hunter rushed for 1,327 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2003. He was named conference player of the year.
