Wildcat Target Makes a Commitment

Northwestern had their eye on Justin Fry but his father and head coach, Kevin Fry says his son has made a verbal commitment. Is that commitment solid?

Justin Fry is a three-year starter and a two-time all state selection. In addition to starting on both sides of the ball as on offensive tackle and defensive end, Fry is the second leg on Elwood's 4x100 relay team in track and field.

There aren't many linemen who can say they run on their high schools relay team. Fry has offers from Ball State and Central Michigan and several other schools are calling on a regular basis.

Fry is coached by his father, Kevin Fry and coach Fry told us last night that his son is verbally committed to Ball State but he's still taking phone calls.

"Right now, Justin wants to go to Ball State." Kevin Fry said. "Ball State has a good Communications and Broadcast school and that's what Justin wants to major in. There are still a few Big Ten schools calling, telling Justin to keep their schools in mind. Tennessee has also been calling every week.

It seems like Justin is probably a late go to guy for a lot of schools. We're going to sit back and see how it all plays out. Right now he's (Justin Fry) is going to Ball State."

Kevin Fry has been coaching football at Elwood for 21 years. How does his son fit in with other Elwood greats?

"Well, I'm his father, so of course I'm his biggest fan and his biggest critic. Justin is without a doubt the best prospect I've coached.

Justin makes all of our line adjustments on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. He directs the rest of the kids on the field during the game. Justin is very smart. I feel like he's a quarterback without the ball." Fry said.

Will Justin Fry remain committed to Ball State? We'll check back with him and his father in the near future.
