How to beat Michigan

From the Purple Boards:<br> Copcat has figured out how to beat the Wolverines of Michigan...

Copcat is a regular over on the Premium Discussion Board. He likes our chances against the Nationally ranked powerhouse from Ann Arbor...

First, it helps that we have them at home. They are a MUCH better team in The Big House, and why wouldn't they be.

I think we will be OK against the run. We seem to be coming around as a defense, especially against the run. What we have to watch out for are the SCREENS.

MI likes the screen and they run it very well. We need Durr, Pickens, and McGarigle [Shown Chasing PSU's Mills - AP Photo - Jeff Roberson] to get out before the linemen and stop it before it starts. I am going to guess that the DE's will have a hard time reacting because they will be so fucused on getting to the passer.

No big plays. As much as I hate to see it, we need to continue the soft corner play, especially early on. Wait and hope for Navarre to make a bad throw.

Spread em out. Don't like the spread? too bad. We need to get their linebackers thinking wide and help open up the middle for some running attack.

Don't get too caught up in the atmosphere. I think it will be a great crowd, with a lot of Blue, but the Purple needs to match their intensity in the stands, and the purple on the field needs to stay focused.

This game is why you choose to play in the Big 10, so the players need to have fun and believe. GO CATS!!!

One more interesting thing:

NUcatfan points out that only one team has a .500 or better record against the Wolverines since 1995 - The Northwestern Wildcats [With wins in 1996, 1998 and 2000]
