Randy Walker's Post Game comments:
I can't say enough about our kids - both sides of the ball and our kicking game. Time and time again people counted us out, questioned this football team.

You gotta go back to when we were 2 and 4. I admire them so much -- the courage, the perseverance -- its given us the chance to finish this season the right way and things are awful promising down the road and hopefully things work out. We told them at the beginning of this thing that this isn't about anything but this win, getting that Sweet Sioux Tomahawk back and getting to win number 6 and having the kind of finish that anyone would be proud of.
What about coming all the way back.
We take delight in shooting ourselves in the foot, making some mistakes and getting off to some bad starts, but again that's what this team has shown in spite of ourselves some time. We still find a way to get back in the football game and keep playing and thats what we've done all year.

You know our wins the last half year haven't been a work of "perfect." You know they've been in some cases -- guys hang in there and we overcome and find a way to win it.

That's why I'm really proud of this football team -- the attitude, the character they've displayed really from the way they've practiced to preparing to play the game itself.
He has to be proud of the defense - especially the 6 Illinois turnovers during the game
You could see it coming all year - it was something we anticipated and I'm really excited for those kids [Bryan Heinz and Marvin Ward with 2 Interceptions each].They took a lot of ridicule a year ago, a lot of blame and it was unjust with so many young kids out there trying to get their feet wet and I'm really glad the way they've matured - they've improved in the off season and we have a whole bunch of those kids back -- the future looks awful good
Talking about the Offensive and Defensive Lines
Both those units have really made some strides over a year ago. I'm really pleased with what they've done and I've got a great deal of excitement about the future, a whole bunch of those kids are showing up again next year.

You know back in the middle of the season we really started getting one week better at a time and trying to find a way to play our best football -- that's a credit to our Senior Leadership first who held this thing together, and its just the character of this football team that held this thing together and made it go the right way.
And those Senior Captains?
You know even the ones who are not captains I wouldn't trade them for any...We have had from January on last year they have stepped up in a big time way. From Winter workouts to Summer workouts to just being great leaders. Its a small Senior Class but its going to be awful tough to say goodbye.

These are guys who have been through some good times and some bad times at this place and they found a way to bring it back out the other end pretty darn good.
And the chance to go to a bowl?
Well that's kind of out of our control at this point, but I think we're a bowl eligible team who deserves to go to a bowl. Honestly, we played our best football down the stretch in the last half of the season and we're a growing young football team and have places to go in the future, but again that's out of our control, we gotta hope for the best but

Bowl or no bowl, I'm so proud of this football team and what we've achieved and what they've accomplished and hopefully we get to play another game.
