The runners had healed for a month we could say
and even two new coaches shouldn't cost us today.
We came back 2 times, and the win we would claim,
But of points we were short at the end of the game.
As I just finished saying to the kids, we came up a little short. I think you could tell just by the silence in there, its pretty tough but we've built so much this year -- we've got a great foundation for the future this year .NU's star of the game? Well you could have said Herron
I can't say enough about our seniors, what they've done and what they've given us.
Now the real challenge is to take this and learn from it , grow from it like we've done a lot of things this year -- we've gone through some adversity here before and lets go the right direction because I think our Senior's legacy can be what they leave for the future and they've built some really positive things with work ethic and accountability -- all the things you want on a football team -- those things have been demonstrated.
Now our crowd coming back next year needs to really live up to that and take it to the right place.
but Wright's 230 plus yards is the record they'll talk on
But there was a Falcon with power like Maris
Well he sure has, He's a big part of what we've become and he and the other seniors just -- they're good players and I tend to minimize that but
He's given us a whole lot more with his character, his spirit, with everything about him than he really has as a football player -- that is hard to believe. But he is a special, special young man and I said this class has left some real strong things behind and I think we're in the right place to go.
As I told them, we are a lot better football team than we were in September and we're a heck of a lot better than we were a year ago and now we just have to go back to work and find those little bit of something here and there to make the difference in a game like this.
Oh no, could it be, too much offense from Harris?
So looking ahead, with a team that could run,
Well, their guy had a great day.
He's tough to get to, and when you get to him, he's tough to tackle. He made some big shots that he needed to make and I just give them a lot of credit.
As we knew going in he was going to be difficult to deal with and he had a great great game but we did a good job against the run, we got them to a one dimensional game, and to give him credit, he made the plays he had to do in a one dimensional game.
is the O-line now ready to add to the fun?
The game didn't end quite the way we would choose
Well the O-line really matured, they were a cause for concern, everybody remembers back to August , everybody questioned the offensive line.
They really grew up and matured and got better and better and its nice to look at those guys coming back. We have some other guys got better on a different scope and we now have not only some good players, but some quality depth.
We're going to have some guys step up and answer. We lose a great player in Jason Wright, and sure we have Noah [Herron] and Derell [Jenkins] and Terrell [Jordan] and some of those guys have shown some things, but we're going to need some real strong effort out of a lot of guys to pick up the slack we lose out of the Seniors.
and the Cats hadn't come all this way just to lose
While the season might end with the gun shot this day
the Wildcats showed everyone they came to play.
They had to play well to beat us today, and I'm proud of that. Our year ends with a loss, though not quite with a clincher
I mean, we want to win but we sure didn't play down . We came to play and we gave ourselves a lot of chances to win this game. We came up a player too short.
Its been a very gratifying season. I've been through a lot of things in this business now -- great seasons and disappointing seasons and a lot of things, but I tell you what....
For what these kids have come through, what they've grown and learned, and its just great to see that take place with a football team.
and while some fans may sit in the corner and whimper,
The Cats come back next year with more depth and Seniors
The stuff that it takes to put out there a winner.
You know the real challenge is what we do in January. You know January 12th we kick this thing off and start the 2004 campaign and its about taking the lessons we've learned and work a little bit harder finding those few inches here and there we needed to make those plays and hopefully have a lot better season next year. Now Coach Roy puts his tapes down as he lifts up a beer
and although this night, maybe, we'll wipe off a tear,
I'll Shout words that should fill all the Cat fans with cheer,
Saying "Watch out Big 10 foes, we'll be back next year."
