Cardiac Cats are Back: NU 28 Iowa 27

The Northwestern Wildcats scored 14 points in the final 2 1/2 minutes to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes on a foggy, rainy Senior Day in Evanston.

The Seniors were in the spotlight
but a pair of freshmen provided the final 14 points as NU becomes bowl eligible, and goes to 6-2 in the Big 10 conference.

At 2:10, RB Tyrell Sutton topped a 12 Play 77 yard drive with a one yard TD. The drive took 1:17, and marked a return to the explosive NU offense that had been missing for most of the game.

Then with :42 left in the game, WR Ross Lane caught a 9 yard pass in the back of the endzone to cap a 6 play, 47 yard drive with a score to tie the Hawks 27-27.

Place kicker Joel Howells kicked it through the uprights, and all that was left was a short defensive stand that gave the Wildcats the victory.

We'll have the interviews coming up, but after the game, Randy Walker expressed his pride in the Seniors - one thing he said was that he was close to breaking up.

Walker is the first coach since Dick Hanley to win 6 or more games in 3 consecutive seasons. Hanley did it back in 1929-31. The last NU coach to post 4 6 win seasons was C.M Hollister, 1899-1902. The Cats still have 2 game left - Ohio State and Illinois, both on the road.
