Braintrust Breakup: Robinson to Brown?

ESPN is reporting that Brown University, of the Ivy League, will name NU Assistant Craig Robinson [left] as Head Men's Basketball coach Thursday morning. Brown has scheduled a news conference for 9 AM Thursday.

The report is from ESPN, in a story by Andy Katz and repeated in last night's Providence Journal that NU Assistant Craig Robinson will be the new Brown Men's Basketball coach.
Robinson came to NU with Bill Carmody in 2000 after 10 years in investment banking in Chicago and a year coaching the University of Chicago HS team. He played his college ball at Princeton, and was the team captain during Bill Carmody's first year as an assistant. He also played pro ball in England, and was an assistant at IIT in the late 80's.

At NU, he has primarily worked with NU's centers and has developed several into decent post players who can also make the 3 pointer when needed.

Robinson has also been NU's point man in recruiting, although the entire staff is involved in the evaluation of talent for NU Basketball. Last Spring he was a finalist for the head coaching position at Air Force.

His departure comes at a time when former NU Wildcat Evan Eschmeyer is back on campus as a student, and NU's last team captain, Jitim Young is still in the area.
