Cats Closing In On McNaul

Bryce McNaul, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound, linebacker from Eden Prairie, Minn., received his first scholarship offer from Northwestern and the Wildcats are getting very close to receiving a verbal commitment from McNaul. Bryce recently visited the Evanston campus and had a great visit with new Wildcats head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

Sources close to the situation said McNaul had a tremendous visit yesterday with Coach Fitzgerald and wanted to commit to the ‘Cats but he didn't pull the trigger.

Ohio State has asked McNaul to be patient and to give them a chance. Ohio State said they'd like to take a closer look at what they have with their current linebacker's situation and what they have on their recruiting board.

McNaul's father is from Ohio and Bryce has a serious interest in the Buckeyes. Several other major D-1 schools have asked McNaul to be patient while they figure out their linebacker's situation.

Meanwhile, Northwestern continues to be the frontrunner for McNaul's signature. The Wildcats where the first to offer a scholarship and Coach Fitzgerald has made it very clear that he'd like to bring in Bryce and Illinois linebacker Kevin Rouse in this years recruiting class.

McNaul is still growing and he would give the Wildcats staff plenty of options. Bryce could play linebacker or he could grow into a defensive end and maybe play tight end.

McNaul has a brother that currently attends West Point who is currently in Jump School down in Georgia and he has another brother who plays football for St. Cloud State.
