Kambium Buckner, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound, defensive lineman from Chicago (Morgan Park) is going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2002. Buckner looks exceptional on film and he should receive his fair share of attention from college recruiters.
"I have scholarship offers from Illinois and Miami (Ohio)." Buckner said. "Besides the two schools that have offered a scholarship, I'd say that Purdue, Iowa, Michigan State and Northwestern are recruiting me the hardest.
"If I had to pick the schools that I was the most interested in they would be Florida, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, Michigan and Michigan State."
Lexy Spurlock has produced several D-1 prospects the past few years. Most notably are Karlton Neal (Tennessee) and Corey Mays (Notre Dame). Looks like Buckner would like to follow in Neal's shoes and play his college football in the south.
Buckner will be a three-year starter in 2002. He projects as a defensive lineman at the next level and he has very good speed (4.7) for his size. Kambium had 11 sacks in 2001.
Buckner carries a 2.6 GPA in the classroom and he scored 24 on his ACT.
