Genyk Eyes Michigan Prospect

Northwestern assistant coach Jeff Genyk could land a solid prospect from the state of Michigan and it could happen soon.

Nick Fincher, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound, offensive lineman from Clinton Township (MI) Chippewa Valley will be one of the most sought after prospects in the Midwest this year.

Fincher will be a two-year varsity starter in 2002. He was named all-area by the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News as a junior and he led his team to a state championship.

"Northwestern, Purdue, Duke and most of the MAC schools have offered me a scholarship." Fincher said.

"I pretty much have it narrowed down to Northwestern and Purdue. Both are equal right now, I don't have a leader."

Fincher camped at Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Northwestern this summer. He also letters in basketball. Nick carries a 3.2 GPA and scored 25 on his ACT.
