Coble Scores 23 but the Cats Lose 66-65

The Wildcats' San Juan Shootout opener turned out to be a disappointment as Tennessee Tech outshot NU 49% to 45%. Kevin Coble did hit for 23, and Craig Moore added 10, but NU still came up short when time ran out...

Any time the Northwestern Wildcats score over 60 points you expect them to win.
But Tennessee Tech drained a 3 pointer to go up by 4, and held off the Cats at the end of the game, despite a Craig Moore 3 pointer with around 30 seconds left.

NU did get the ball with one second left on the clock, but couldn't get a shot off as Tech advances to tomorrow's second round game with Vanderbilt, a 105-59 winner of Puerto Rico - Mayaguez.

Leading scorer for Northwestern was Kevin Coble with 23 points, including 5 threes. Craig Moore hit for 10, including 2 3s and 2 free throws. Vince Scott was 4 of 9 from the floor for 8 points.

NU shot 46.3% [25-54] from the field and .333 [9 of 27] from outside the arc, but Tech finished with a 49.1% FG percentage and made 7 of 15 threes.

The Wildcats next play Puerto Rico at 9 AM Wednesday morning.
