Scott is actually 6-10 1/2, 222 lbs and carries some impressive numbers, including a 4.0 GPA, 1100+ SAT score, a 13 point and 10 rebound per game average. He also likes to shoot 3s, something NU Coach Bill Carmody likes to hear. He was told that he's expected to jump in and contribute his first year.
The Coaches told Scott during his official visit, "We are not recruiting you to be cannon fodder, a 12th man." according to Scott's father [reported in the Arizona Republic]
Scott's team - The Greenway High School Demons - were the 2002 Desert Sky Region Champions in Boy's and Girl's Basketball.
Anyone who was worried about who follows 6-11 Senior Aaron Jennings in the center can now see a glimpse where the coaches are heading with 6-11 Thomas Soltau, new recruit 6-9/250 lb Ivan Tolic joining the team this year and Scott next. In addition to these three, Vedran Vukusic, last year's surprise at forward, came out in the middle for our first exhibition.
The Court Cats should still have 2 scholarships to hand out for 2003, as they will have to replace the Senior duo from Plano - 6-5 Forward Winston Blake and 6-8 Guard Jason Burke at the end of the season.
Reports from Evanston suggest that the women's team will not have early signers, but we can expect some more early signings in other sports. This is the official early signing day for most NCAA college sports except Football.
