The Commit Count is up to 17

Northwestern Football picked up 4 more Commits this past weekend, plus a recommit from a visitor. This was in addition to Friday's commit from CB Deante Battle who also had said "yes" to Coach Randy Walker.
It brings the new recruiting class up to 17, and brings the number of offensive players up to 8...

CB Deante "Playboy" Battle **** 5-10 185 4.4 [Visited 12/6][Committed 1/10]
Nicknamed "Playboy" because he always makes the big play, Battle is highest ranking prospect on Northwestern's list. He had offers from Colorado, Duke, NC State, Virginia and the Irish.

Will major in Mechanical Engineering, and expects to get a degree from Kellogg too!

WR Sam Cheatham *** 5-11 175 4.4 [Visit 1/10]
Was very interested in Colorado, but now that two of the Offensive Assistants have left, has reportedly ruled out Gary Barnett's Buffs.

NU was second on his list to Oregon, but the Ducks didn't offer and besides his HS teammate, WR Reggie McPherson has committed and will be coming to NU also.

QB/ATH Chris Malleo 6-3 213 4.5 [Visit 1/10]
Dual threat QB/Athlete threw for 1152 yards and 9 TDs in his senior year. He was looking at Boston College.
ATH Eddie Simpson [Visit 1/10]
Not much known about this player from North Houson High School except he was a finalist (along with OL Commit Trevor Rees) in the Houston Touchdown Club Player of the Year award, and he reportedly hits like a truck [One report is that he hits like "Hoody", a former NU d-back]. We'll have more info on this Athlete/Defensive Lineman as soon as we can.
OL Dylan Thiry * 6-8 290 5.1 [Visit 1/10]
Wants to play football in the Big 10, and has visits scheduled to NU, Purdue and Indiana before signing day. All the schools have offered. 3 year Varsity Starter in Louisville, KY. Team is 29-1 while he's been playing!
Also this weekend...

WR Commit Reggie McPherson 6-0 175 4.5 [Visiting 1/10]

Committed to NU Dec 3rd, and has been accepted by NU. Reconfirmed his commitment over the weekend.
Chris Pool also reported that NU expects several more commits this week - While we thought that we only had 17 Scholarships to offer, apparently there are more upper class defections than originally anticipated.
