WR Jones to Announce This Week

Tony Jones planned on waiting until the fall before announcing his college plans. But the three-star recruit, who is considering Northwestern along with a few others, said that he will instead announce at a press conference this week. Inside, see what Jones had to say about what he's looking for, and why he is announcing earlier than originally planned.

Highly recruited Michigan wide receiver Tony Jones plans to announce his college choice next Friday, August 7, at a press conference at his high school.

A three-star prospect, Jones has narrowed his list down to Northwestern, Stanford , Illinois , Michigan State , and Missouri . He plans on committing to the school that in his mind offers the best combination of strong academics and a comfortable environment.

"[First,] the education," Jones said. "I really want to go somewhere that offers a great education as well as a positive environment. It also definitely needs to have a great graduation rate because I want to be somewhere where I know I'll graduate and I'll be surrounded by players that share the same goals and interests as I do."

Originally Jones had planned to wait until football season to make a commitment, but in recent days decided that he would rather not have the pressures of the recruiting process hanging over his head as his senior football season begins.

"I just really want to get it taken care of before my team goes into camp so I can really focus on my senior year academically and finishing up my senior year of football strong as well," Jones said.

Special thanks to The Bootleg.
