"I committed to Northwestern last weekend," said defensive back, Ryan Black.
"I visited Northwestern last week with my mother and we loved the school. Northwestern is a great academic school that plays football in a great conference.
"Northwestern offers a lot academically that you don't see at other schools. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to receive a Northwestern degree."
Black, a 5-foot-11, 175-pounder, from Pasadena (CA) Poly Tech was a three-year varsity starter. As a junior, Black was named All-CIF and this year he was named all-state as well as being named the most valuable player in his division.
"I had about 2,600 all-purpose yards on offense and I scored 30 touchdowns." Black said.
"On defense, I had two interceptions and I ran one of those back for a touchdown. I returned four kicks for touchdowns as well.
"I'm being recruited as a defensive back."
Ryan Black chose Northwestern over Oregon State, Utah and New Mexico.
