Ohio State Too Much for Cats in the 2nd Half

It was close at the half, but <b>Ohio State</b> turned up the heat in the second to beat the NU Wildcats going away 52-65 Saturday. <p><b>Winston Blake</b> did show signs of finally pulling out of his slump as he he hit for 14 off the bench, Aaron Jennings had 15 for the Cats...

Winston Blake had 14 points off the Bench and Aaron Jennings [below left - AP Photo/Chris Putman] scored 15, but 4 Buckeyes were in double figures as NU lost to Ohio State in Columbus 65-52.
Jennings shoots over the Giant [AP Photo/Chris Putman]Also scoring for the Cats: Evan Seacat had 6 points, Mohamed Hachad, Jitim Young and Jason Burke had 5 each, and Jim Maley had 6 points, but T.J. Parker was shut out in a game where there were plenty of open looks for 3s, but the Wildcats, shooting 10-36 [27.8%] from the arc, just couldn't convert.

Davor guards OSU's Connolly [AP/Chris Putnam]Add 19-56 [33.9%] shooting from the floor and NU just couldn't stay with the Buckeyes even with the Bucks having 15 Turnovers to NU's 7. The Buckeye's out rebounded the Cats 45-26.

The Bucks were led in scoring by Guards Brent Darby with 15 and Sean Connolly [right-AP Photo/Chris Putman] with 13. Zach Williams, had 11 in his first start for a the Bucks for a while.

Jitim Young apparently sustained a dislocated finger and missed most of the 2nd half. There was no post game interview with NU Coach Bill Carmody due to limited coverage by WGN.

The Wildcats are back in action at Welsh Ryan Wednesday night - Indiana comes to town for an 8 PM Central contest.
