Jimmy Maley Leaves Basketball Team

The Daily Northwestern is reporting that Freshman Forward Jimmy Maley has decided to leave the basketball team.

The decision to leave was confirmed by the Daily after talking with Maley's father and reported in today's edition. Maley is from LaGrange, IL and played at Lisle Township High School.

The 6-6 Forward earned a starting role with the Wildcats early in the season after the shoulder injury to Vedran Vukusic, but his playing time had diminished as the season wore on. He was not in uniform during the Illinois game last Saturday, WGN reported that he was ill.

His decision leaves the team with 11 scholarship players.

6-8 Sophomore Vedran Vukusic and 6-9 Freshman Ivan Tolic are both taking medical redshirts. 6-11 Soph Center Thomas Soltau earlier had decided to pursue professional basketball in Denmark, his home country.

The Cats are already looking to replace three graduating seniors, Winston Blake, Jason Burke and Aaron Jennings. They signed a center, Vince Scott to a letter of intent in November.
