Any chances of NCAA glory for our Wildcats started to fade when Vedran got hurt again, and really went south when Winston sprained his ankle, so I'm more interested in who NU draws in the first round of the Big 10 Tournament on March 13th at the United Center - which will be NU's version of March Madness this year.
If the Big 10 Season ended today, here is how the seedings would work:
[* NU holds the first tie breaker over Penn State.]
Michigan State **
Ohio State **
[** MSU and Minnesota split during the season so did OSU and Iowa - so right now its the 2nd tie breaker - their record against #1 that determines their seeding]
Earning the #1 seed is easy for the Badgers and the Fighting Illini - win Wednesday and you're in pretty good shape, but who wins the Big 10 also depends on how well Michigan plays down the stretch. Illinois has to win both of their last games [Wisconsin & Minnesota] to gain an undisputed championship this year.
Right now, the Wildcats would face the #7 seed, Indiana again for the opener., but we also could have a hand in determining #8 and #9 - we play them both this week..
Indy almost has control of their desitny - they play the "angry" Gophers of Minnesota, then the oft defeated Penn State Nittany Lions away left on their schedule - they could easily advance in the standings over Minnesota with 2 wins.
Should Indy win out - a good possibility, then its up to Minnesota - who has 1 additional game remaining - the makeup with Illinois!
In addition, Indiana holds the tie-breaker against Minnesota when you look at their record against either of the potential league winners,

Everybody else writing about Basketball seems to be "fixated" on who will make the NCAA Tournament.
