This was supposed to be Ohio State's year. They were going to be able to start 5 upperclassmen, including a bunch of Seniors. Everyone in a leadership role had NCAA Tournament experence, and the atmosphere in Columbus was "double NCAA Championship" after the Football team's #1 finish.
Needless to say, the Buckeye Coach, Jim O'Brien is disappointed,Last time
Needless to say, I'm disappointed in our last game against Iowa. We've had a couple of loss droughts now.[Jim Obrien - Big 10 Teleconference]And the injuries and losses have led to team discussions about attitude,
We have discussed throughout the entire season, the whole issue of having an attitude of "woe is me," and everything is going wrong ... so we've had to guard against that and I think for the most part our guys have done a pretty good job with that. [Teleconference]The big difficulty is that Ohio State will need to win the Big 10 Tournament to make the NCAA's this year. Right now, OSU would face Iowa in the first game, and would have to beat the #1 seed in the second to do that.
The chance to get into the NCAA tournament is a long shot ... never-the-less, Pride becomes a big factor. And that's the attitude the Buckeyes will bring to Welsh-Ryan tonight.
We still have an opportunity to extend our season into a post season ... even if it means getting into the NIT.
Our philosophy has to be, as long as there's another game to be played, we have to look at it as an opportunity to win another game.

The game was the first time the Cats had attempted a record 36 3 pointers. They made 10 of them.
Jim O'Brien, in his 6th year with the Buckeyes, had 4 consecutive NCAA appearances, and 20 win seasons prior to this one, and is suffering through his worse season since he came to Columbus from Boston College. The Big Gun [s]
His second year in Columbus led to a final 4 appearance, something the Bucks look to repeat, but to get there, they have to win out, then win the Big 10 Tournament.
I'm looking foirward to finishing strong against Northwestern and then at home against Michigan State on Saturday.
