Jack Simmons, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound, tight end from Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel will be a "Top 100" Midwest prospect in 2003.
Carmel head coach Andy Bitto had this to say about his four-year varsity starter.
"Northwestern has offered a scholarship," Bitto said. "Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Stanford are all very high on Jack.
"Jack is a play maker. We use him as a wide receiver, tight end, defensive back and as a linebacker. He makes plays wherever we put him on the field.
"Jack's best position at the next level will be tight end or at least that's what all the schools are recruiting him as. He led our team in tackles, interceptions and blocked punts.
"Jack has a huge upside. He's a tremendous basketball player and I'm trying to get him out for track."
Does Simmons have a favorite right now?
"No, I'm wide open," Simmons said. "I've been to Northwestern and Illinois for junior days. I'm going to Wisconsin this weekend for a junior day with our punter, Chris Miller.
"Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Indiana are my favorites right now."
Simmons was named 1st team all-area in 2002.
