Irish Strike First

With a slight breeze and light rain, Notre Dame looked to get off to a fast start against Michigan State. Dayne Crist and Michael Floyd made sure that happened as the Irish strike first.

In the first quarter, Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist came out throwing going 11-18- 116-0 with a touchdown pass to Michael Floyd to give the Irish the first points of the game.

Hitting five different receivers in the first quarter alone, Crist is setting the pace as Michigan State looks to pressure him into making mistakes. So far, they have not come close as he has made several crisp passes and showed great poise.

Notre Dame has looked to run the ball only five times in the first quarter for a total of 17 yards. But is doing a solid job of setting up future runs.

Defensively the Irish have been solid as Ian Williams, and Zeke Motta, who was given the start, along with Harrison Smith, have placed themselves at the top of the tackles list and slowed the Spartans from reaching the end zone. Top Stories
