Five answers to five crucial questions in Saturday's loss to Stanford.

Question #1 – Can Notre Dame keep Andrew Luck in check on Saturday?

Answer #1 – Yes & No!  Luck had a solid day, but the Irish did have two interceptions against the junior signal caller.  Overall Luck went 19-of-32 (just under 60%) for 238 yards and one touchdown.  He did rush for another 23 yards but overall he was not the reasons the Irish loss the game.


Question #2 – Can Notre Dame slow down Stanford's running attack?

Answer #2 – Stephfan Taylor did rush for 108 yards but overall the Cardinal only picked up 166 yards on the day with one rushing touchdown.


Question #3 – Can Notre Dame keep Stanford's defense out of the face of quarterback Dayne Crist?

Answer #3 – NO!  The first 20 plays of the game saw Crist take three heavy hits and overall the Cardinal had two sacks and five quarterback hurries.  The early pressure seemed to shake Crist up and he never recovered the rest of the game.


Question #4 – Can Dayne Crist continue to build upon his performance against Michigan State?

Answer #4 – NO!  Crist went 25-of-44 for 304 yards and one interception and touchdown.  Crist hit on just over 56% of his passes but take away the final two drives of the game and he only had 153 yards on the day with no touchdowns.  In many ways, Crist did take steps back and he'll be pushed to catch back up to where he should be this week.


Question #5 – Will Notre e Dame get its first 100-yard rusher against the Cardinal?

Answer #5 – NO! The Irish only averaged 1.9 yards per carry against the Cardinal and Armando Allen was top on the team with 49 yards on 15 carries. Top Stories
