Ohio Running Back Talks ND Visit

Ohio running back Alex Winters visited Notre Dame on Saturday. How did his visit go? Irish Eyes has the latest.

When talking about the history of Ohio High School football one must talk about Massillon High School. Known for great coaches and players, Massillon is so deep in history, they made a movie about the program.

Running back Alex Winters is the next generation of player coming out of the famed school in Northeast Ohio, and one of the early programs to show some interest is Notre Dame. On Saturday the 5-foot-11, 180-pounder visited South Bend.

"I went to Notre Dame with two of my friends," Winters told Irish Eyes. "I loved the campus and how beautiful it is. The fans are so nice and everything is so close together. The game was amazing and how the student section gets into the game is really cool."

While some people dream of getting inside of the Irish program, Winters was able to live the dream.

"We got to be on the field before the game and then had a chance to go into the locker room after the game. It was such a great experience. I hope I can go up for another game soon."

This season Winters has shifted between running back and free safety.

"It varies week-to-week, I'm use to playing both positions but like running back more."

Before leaving campus, Alex had a chance to speak with Brian Kelly, Tim Hinton, and his recruiting coach Ed Warinner.

"It was great getting a chance to speak with Coach Kelly and the other coaches. Coach Warinner said they would be up to my school in December to get some tape and look at me more. I really like Notre Dame as it seems like such a great school."

Irish Eyes will continue to follow the recruiting trail of Alex in the coming months.
