Decker Looking To Return

Ohio offensive lineman enjoyed his first trip to Notre Dame and now looks forward to making his return.

After picking up his first scholarship offer this weekend (Cincinnati), Taylor Decker of Vandalia (Ohio) Butler High School knows Notre Dame is not like any other college that might recruit him. Notre Dame got an unofficial visit from Decker for the Michigan game, and Decker still thinks about his visit today.

"Notre Dame was the first place I had gone to visit for a game and I did not know what to expect. It was the Michigan game, and that was a great game to attend. Getting a chance to go on the field and seeing all those players, knowing you might get a chance to be part of that someday was awesome. "

One thing that still stands out to Decker was the difference in the campus.

"The Notre Dame campus is unlike any I have been to so far. Most of the schools I have been to have campus in city environments. The campus at Notre Dame, I just love, and my dad tells me all the time that this is about getting a quality education. I know Notre Dame will give me that."

Decker reports a GPA of 3.8 and has made the choice football is his ticket to college athletics despite his basketball skills and 6-foot-8, 270-pound frame.

As for making a return to South Bend?

"I am planning right now on making a second trip to Notre Dame when they play Utah."

Irish Eyes will continue to follow Taylor Decker in the coming months.
