Timothy Cole (6-foot-1, 216-pounds) already has scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia and Baylor. Cole has also been hearing from the likes of Oklahoma State, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Cal, Arizona, Miami, and Notre Dame.
"They've (Notre Dame) been sending me some letter about their program the last couple weeks," he said. "I don't know much about the school, but I'm opening to learning more."
Growing up in Texas, you're either a Longhorn fan or an Aggie fan, and Cole was no different than most.
"When I was little I was a Longhorn fan, but now I'm kind of a Texas A&M fan, because my cousin is the quarterback, Jerrod Johnson," Cole explained. "His grandma and my grandma are sisters, so we talk a lot.
"I've visited A&M a lot. When it rains in Brenham we go over there and practice, so I'm really familiar with the school and coaches.
"Last summer I went to the Texas camp," he said. "It was real nice. I like the athletic facilities and I like the coaches. I got to meet coach (Will) Muschamp and coach (Mack) Brown. I took a tour around the whole athletic facility and I liked what I saw.
"I stay in touch with them. I talk to them about every other week. They just told me to stay patient (about an offer).
Although Cole is familiar with the Texas schools, he quick to point out that he's going to keep an open mind throughout the recruiting process.
"At this point I'll go to any school," he said. "I'm just going to see where everything takes me. I plan on taking a few visits in the spring to some colleges and seeing how that goes.
"I'm just a junior right now, and I'm not going to commit anytime soon. I want to look at all my options, because I don't want to cut myself short on an opportunity. I don't want to just say A&M or Texas, because that might not be the place for me."
