Washington Hearing From Irish

Brian Kelly will search high and low for the prefect quarterback for his offense. One junior that may get a look from Notre Dame is Connor Washington from Stephenville High School (Texas). Washington doesn't have an offer yet, but it shouldn't be long until that changes.

Stephenville got off to a slow start this season after playing a difficult pre-district schedule, but that hasn't stopped college coaches from taking notice of Connor Washington (6-foot-2, 200-pounds).

"They've (Notre Dame) sent me letters and they sent me personal invites to their games," Washington said. "I'd really like to get up there. The only problem is that we play Friday nights and they play on Saturday. I'd have to fly up there. I'm just not sure I can make. If I ever get the chance, I'm going to try my best.

"Notre Dame has such a rich tradition and I'd love to see a game there. I bet if I saw a game there, I'd love it.

"I never had much interest in Notre Dame until they started sending me stuff. I'd like to hear more about the school though," he said.

Although Washington hasn't had a chance to see the Irish play this season, he's sold on Brian Kelly and the Irish offense.

"I know a little about coach Kelly from when he was at Cincinnati," he said. "I definitely like his offensive scheme from watching him at Cincinnati.

"I like to throw a lot. We're a big passing school, and we run the spread, so I like how he coaches the offense."

Connor has been staying in contact with a number of coaches, but he's still waiting on his first scholarship offer.

"Texas A&M is probably the one I talk to most," Washington explained. "I've also talked to coach (Sonny) Cumbie at Texas Tech and coach (Josh) Heupel. When I've talked to coaches, most say that if they're going to offer, they send it out in the spring.

"I just started receiving stuff from LSU and Alabama."
