Fuller Has One Offer, More Likely

The style of the quarterbacks that Brian Kelly brings into his program will always be important to the success of his offense. Junior Devin Fuller from Northern Valley Regional High School (N.J.) is a dynamic player that could drive Kelly's offense, but he's also athletically gifted enough so that he could play a number of positions.

Notre Dame has been reaching out to a number of top prospects for the 2012 recruiting class and Devin Fuller (6-foot-0, 180-pounds) appears to be one of them.

"They have a little bit," Fuller responded when ask if Notre Dame had been recruiting him. "They've sent me and stuff like that, and I've sent them my highlight tape.

"I know they have a great tradition of winning over there. They've had a lot of good players come out of the school the last couple years and go onto the NFL, so I know they have a chance if I went there. They also have great academics, so if nothing else works you'd have an education from there.

"I'd say that I have high interest in them," he said. "I'm interested in all the schools that have offered me, but if Notre Dame offered me they'd be right up there at the top with the offer that I have."

The scholarship offer that Fuller is referring to is from Rutgers. The Scarlett Knights have been on him for a long time, but Devin is also receiving recruiting attention from the likes of Oregon, UCLA, Georgia Tech, UConn, North Carolina, and Syracuse.

Through 10 games of his junior season he has racked up 1,100 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, as well as 1,200 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns. That playmaking ability out of his high school's spread offense would make him an interesting quarterback prospect at the college level, but his overall athleticism has coaches considering him for several positions.

"I'm being recruited as an athlete right now," fuller said. "Rutgers hasn't characterized it yet, but they said that they'd tell me later in the process. I still don't know, but I think it would be for defense.

"People always say the defensive side of the ball, because I have a little speed, and based on my height and weight. But if you come out to one of my games and see me play, I have the size for quarterback also.

"You know, it really doesn't matter to me, anything that will get me on the field faster at the next level would be great. I know it's hard to play one position in high school and another in college, but anything that will get me on the field quicker. I'm a quick learner, so I would have a problem switching positions."
