Tony Springmann and Kyle Brindza both fell short this weekend in their state championship games. With Ben Councell, and Stephon Tuitt's teams also losing in the playoffs, there are only four of Notre Dame's commitments that are alive in their state playoffs.
Ben Councell and A.C Reynolds, N.C. (12-2) lost 24-21 to Porter Ridge (12-1) in a state sectional playoff game.
Kyle Brindza and Plymouth (11-2) lost 21-13 to Lake Orion (12-1) in the Division I State Championship game.
Conor Hanratty and New Canaan (9-1) won 42-14 against Darien (9-1). Next game against Naugatuck (9-1)
Matt Hegarty and Aztec (12-0) won 37-33 against Belen (11-1) in a third round state playoff game.
Stephon Tuitt and Monroe (11-2) lost 41-0 to Sandy Creek (13-0) in a Class AAA quarterfinal game.
George and Josh Atkinson and Granada (8-4) won 42-14 against College Park (5-7) in a CIF North Coast Section second round playoff game. Next game against De La Salle (11-0) in a CIF North Coast Section second round playoff game.
Tony Springmann and Bishop Dwenger (13-0) lost 31-20 to Indianapolis Cathedral (12-3) in the Class 4A Championship game.
