Carlisle Will Visit ND

The Notre Dame coaching staff is still trying to put the finishing touches on their 2011 recruiting class. One of their top targets is Stanford commitment Amir Carlisle. The running back from The Kings Academy (Sunnyvale, Calif.) hasn't opened his recruitment up to all schools, but Notre Dame is the one school that he is still considering.

Amir Carlisle (5-foot-11, 190-pounds) committed to Stanford in the spring, but he has always kept his eye on Notre Dame and Notre Dame has kept an eye on him as well.

This summer Carlisle attended the Notre Dame football camp in hopes to land an Irish offer, but the offer never came. Carlisle had plans to take an official visit to Notre Dame for the Michigan game, but those plans feel through.

The Notre Dame coaching staff eventually extended Carlisle a scholarship offer at the beginning of November and five months after his initial trip to South Bend, Amir will make an official visit to Notre Dame this month.

"He'll be coming out on Friday (December) the 10th," Amir's father Duane confirmed. "He is very interested in Notre Dame and they are very involved."

"He is interested, but he's not going to make his final decision until the middle of January, when he comes back from the UnderArmour game."

In 11 games this season, Carlisle had 220 carries for 2,110 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also had 12 receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Top Stories
