Notre Dame had been looking for a quarterback to add to their 2011 recruiting class and today they found him. Everett Golson of Myrtle Beach High School (S.C.) had previously been committed to North Carolina.
Golson confirmed with IrishEyes.com that he did commit to Notre Dame via text message that read "Yes, I did."
Golson is the No. 14 ranked quarterback by Scout.com. Despite his height, Myrtle Beach head coach Mickey Wilson, feels he has the tools to be a very productive quarterback at the next level.
"He's a quarterback, there is no doubt about that." Wilson said. "He's been out since the second game of the year and he just came back this week, so his numbers aren't great. He was closing in on the top-5 or top-10 in the nation for career touchdown passes, so he's got numbers.
"It (height) won't be an issue. He's one of the top quarterbacks in the country. (When) he goes to Notre Dame, I think he'd have a chance to win a Heisman Trophy for them."
Golson will graduate in Decemeber and enroll at Notre Dame in January.
