Koyack Discusses Official Visit

Irish Eyes caught up with Pennsylvania tight end and Notre Dame verbal pledge Ben Koyack to discuss his official visit with the Irish.

In late April, Ben Koyack of Oil City (Pennsylvania) Senior High School gave Brian Kelly his official verbal pledge. Since, Koyack and several other members of the Irish Class of 2011 have been working hard to build a strong bond. Did that happen on his official visit?

"My official visit was nice. I got a closer look at the campus and everything while bonding with other guys in the class. It was nice and made it a little bit easier to be friendly with everybody."

While Ben enjoyed his visit, he knew Notre Dame was the right choice long before his return trip to South Bend.

"For me everything was solidified long ago. Even without an official visit, there was no doubt in my mind Notre Dame was where I wanted to go. The official visit allowed me to build more of a relationship with some of the coaches and other guys coming in."

Ben and his mother Karen visited for the Michigan game early in the season. What has the 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end take away from his game visit and watching the Irish on television?

"For me watching it, I just wanted to get out there and be part of it myself. I know I will have my chance, but it did give me a little bit of a feel. I can picture myself out there pretty easy."

Irish Eyes will have more on Ben Koyack coming soon as we also spoke with his mother Karen for our latest "A Mother's Words".
