Ishaq Heading To ND (Sunday)

Notre Dame landed a huge commitment today when Ishaq Williams from Lincoln High School (Brooklyn, N.Y.) confirmed that he had contacted the Notre Dame coaching staff and told them that he wanted to play his football in South Bend.

Ishaq Williams is one of the top defensive players in the country with over 32 scholarship offers. Toward the end of his season he had narrowed his list of schools down to Notre Dame, Penn State, Syracuse, USC and Miami. This morning the U.S. Army All-American committed to the Notre Dame coaching staff.

"It came down to the wire and it was really hard to pick, but I went with my gut, and that is Notre Dame," Williams confirmed with IrishEyes. "I just fell in love with the school. I still wanted to take the other visits so that I'd have something to measure it against, but in the end I felt it (Notre Dame) was the best (choice).

"It wasn't an easy decision, but I liked Notre Dame's tradition, the academics and the prestige that comes with Notre Dame. If I had to take football out of the equation and I looked at what school I wanted to go to if I wasn't a football player, it was Notre Dame."

Williams is one of four recruits that will enroll at Notre Dame for the spring semester. Williams joins defensive lineman Brad Carrico, kicker Kyle Brindza, and quarterback Everett Golson that will begin classes next week.

"I'm starting to pack my bags," Williams said. "I'm leaving Sunday and I'll be there on Monday." Top Stories
