California Tailback One to Watch

Terrell "Action" Jackson is one of the West Coast's top running backs. What is his interest level in Notre Dame?

Fifty touchdowns! That's what Centennial HS (Corona, CA) Terrell Jackson had last season alone. The 5'9, 190-pound (4.45) tailback racked up 2344 yards on the ground with 44 touchdowns, along with 446 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. "I had a pretty good year" Jackson said modestly." Pretty good indeed! He also has a 3.0 GPA, and 890 SAT score. "I've been hearing from all of the PAC 10 schools, and Hawaii. Cal and Hawaii have offered so far. My top 5 right now are UCLA, USC, Cal, Arizona State, and Washington State."

Is Notre Dame in the race at all? "Yes, I actually received a hand-written post card from Notre Dame today saying how they just started spring ball. I'm really interested in Notre Dame. When it comes to tradition, there is no school better. Plus, I would like to play for Tyrone Willingham. He has done a good job there so far, and I think it would be great to play for an African-American coach. My parents would really like that."

Being from California, one may think that Jackson would've grown up liking UCLA or USC. "Actually, I grew up being a Florida State fan. I always like USC and UCLA, but Florida State was always my favorite team. I don't want to go there though because of the type of offense they run."

"I would actually prefer to stay on the West Coast to go to school but I will not count out other schools. I want to go to a school where I can get a good education, as well as early playing time on the field. If a school that isn't on the West Coast has the best combination of the two, that's where I'll go. I plan of taking all my visits, and I'll more than likely decide on or near Signing Day."

Comments: I had a good time talking to Terrell. He was a very modest and humble young man. Terrell has HIGH interest in Notre Dame and was really excited about the hand-written post card he received today. He likes the idea of playing for Willingham and if Notre Dame decides to offer Terrell, they will have a great shot. It will all come down to the visit in my opinion. If Ty and Co. can get him to visit, they will have an excellent shot. Top Stories
