Five Questions: Signing Day

What are the top Five Questions concerning Notre Dame as Brian Kelly gets ready to sign his second class of future Irish competitors?

The next holiday of the year is fast approaching, yes, National Signing Day is a holiday to many especially Notre Dame fans.  Therefore, as we fast approach what should be a National Holiday, we have Five Questions worth asking.

We will revisit these Five Questions following the completion of signing day.

Who will Notre Dame fans be surprised with between now and signing day?

Notre Dame coaches are working overtime in stirring up the pot of national recruits as they look to put final recruits on the board.  Will there be a surprise between now and National Signing Day?  Odds say there will be a prospect that either picks the Irish, changes their current commitment to the Irish, or some other strange circumstance bring the Irish a player that will make a difference.

Does Notre Dame get the verbal pledge of 5-star running back Savon Huggins?

Irish fans should know before signing day what Huggins plans are, however, at this time things point away from the Irish.

Will Notre Dame suffer any casualties on signing day?

Despite the efforts of the Notre Dame coaches, across the country prospects could make last second changes to commitments they have made months in advance.  Does Notre Dame stay clear of any losses on signing day?  We will soon learn the outcome.

When all is said and done, who was the Notre Dame coach that made the biggest impact on the Class of 2011?

We have already seen great stories like Bob Diaco's early morning visit to Ishaq Williams that turned him into an early enrollee at Notre Dame.  However, what assistant coach made the biggest impact on the class as a whole?

Who will be the first member of the Class of 2012 to jump on-board with Brian Kelly and the Irish?

The one thing I have learned about Brian Kelly is he does not waste any time in getting started with the next class.  The Irish have offered several top prospects in the Class of 2012 and will be looking to get one on the board as soon as possible.

Prospects like Keith Marshall (Raleigh, NC), Eddie Goldman (Washington, DC), or maybe even Maty Mauk could all be players Brian Kelly is looking to make that early splash for the Class of 2012.

On the other hand, it could be someone who will be getting his offer in the next few days.  You just never know and we may not be able to answer this question the day after signing day.

The Class of 2011 picked up pledge number one in late March, do not be surprised if that date is beat for the Class of 2012. Top Stories
