Lawlor Likes Irish

Mechanicsburg, PA is home to one of the state's top football prospects. Dan Lawlor, a 6-3, 225-pound fullback has college coaches from around the country interested in Cumberland Valley HS football this year. After rushing for 1,200 yards on 150 carries, and 23 TDs, who can blame them. Are the Notre Dame coaches among the teams pursuing him?

"Right now, I have offers from Penn State, and Maryland," said Lawlor. "I'm also hearing from Notre Dame, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Iowa, and Colorado. I don't really have a favorite, or a top 5. I'm just listening to what all the schools have to say right now. This is a big decision."

Lawlor boasts a 3.0 grade point average but has yet to take the SAT or ACT. Education will be a big factor in his decision. "Distance will not be factor. I am going to choose a school that is good academically and is also has a good football team. The balance of both will be very important. Of course I will have to feel comfortable with the coaches too. I plan on taking all five of my visits but if I feel totally comfortable with a school, I might verbal early."

Comments: It was tough to get a feel on who Dan really likes. It seems that he's enjoying the recruiting process, and he's taking it very seriously. He didn't really have too much to say about any of the schools and it's obvious he wants to know more about all of them. My guess is, we will know more about Dan when he takes his visits. Notre Dame is in the mix though. Top Stories
