IE Breakdown: Aaron Lynch

Brian Kelly and the Irish staff never gave up on Aaron Lynch after he switched his pledge to Florida State. After watching several films we issue an overall breakdown of Aaron's skill set, as well a star ranking for each category.

HT – WT – SPEED: At 6-foot-6, 255-pounds, Aaron Lynch has the ideal size for his position. He showed these advantages during the recent All-American game and opened eyes as to why the Irish fought to get him back into the fold.

QUICKNESS – AGILITY – BALANCE: The reason Aaron has seen great success is he excels in all three areas while also bringing intensity to the field. This is a deadly combination and Irish fans should be excited about getting a chance to see him in the spring.

STRENGTH: Getting an early start on his college career will only help Lynch make up any short giving's he may have hear. Overall, he seems to be more comfortable with his physical strength not showing the normal deficiencies seen from players that have a long and lanky frame. What really sets Aaron apart from others is how he explodes off the line. This is the type of strength that sets great players apart from average players.

BODY FLEXIBILITY: Natural bender who can adjust his body with little effort.

PRODUCTION: High production player who can create off his own ability.

Turn on the film and Aaron Lynch jumps out at you from his defensive end position. Lynch explodes off the line and is a terror offensive linemen fear when assigned to block him one-on-one. Lynch explodes into offensive linemen getting them out of step to make a proper block to stop him.

After winning the battle, Lynch does a great job of shedding and making the play. However, battles are won on physical ability and not technique at this time. This is where his game will take the biggest growth at the college level.

While Aaron's polished in playing the run, his greatest strength is his ability to rush the passer and apply pressure from his burst and ability to use his great balance and body control to get over the trash at his feet.

If Aaron Lynch uses the spring to get a handle on his techniques, he will have a great chance of playing a vital role during the 2011 season. He has all the tools and the spring will give him the early start to take his game up another level.

This was a great get for the Irish and Notre Dame fans should be excited to see how the Florida native does in spring practice. Top Stories
