Open spots for the 2011 recruiting class are dwindling as are the candidates for those spots. Notre Dame has 23 commitments after adding Chase Hounshell and recapturing Stephon Tuitt last week.

The 2011 Notre Dame recruiting class is nearly set, but there are two recruits that the Irish are still fighting to get into the class.

Troy Niklas from Servite High School (Anaheim, Calif.) is the No. 8 ranked offensive tackle in the country. Niklas (6-foot-5, 265-pounds) has his list of schools narrowed down to Notre Dame and USC. He has family connections to USC, and his official visit to USC went very well. Niklas just returned from his official visit to Notre Dame and word is that he also had a good time in South Bend. He doesn't talk much, so it's difficult to gauge which way he is leaning, but we'll all find out on Wednesday. This is a coin flip right now, but I can't list this as a hold this late in the process, so I'll take a stab… Sell

Bennett Okotcha from Coppell High School (Texas) finds himself on this list because he appears to have opened his recruitment up just days before National Signing Day. Okotcha committed to Wisconsin early in the recruiting process. He received his offer from Notre Dame and quickly flipped to the Irish. It's uncertain when he received his Oklahoma scholarship offer, but the Sooners appear to be the other school that Okotcha is considering. Bennett has said that he will decide on Signing Day… Again, I think this is a toss-up, but I don't want to list a hold… Buy Top Stories
