All Irish: Eilar Hardy

Four-star Ohio prospect ready to compete and could fit at either cornerback or safety in an Irish secondary ready for turnover in 2012.

Eilar Hardy (CB/S – 6'0/170): One of four defensive back prospects to sign with the Irish for 2011…Already noted as 6'1" rather than last official posting of 6-feet – a trend among the quartet of taller Irish backfield recruits…Will need to add weight to compete at either CB or S but that's too be expected of a true freshman…Both positions will see openings – first-string at CB; second-string at S – in 2012…Appeared comfortable near the line of scrimmage in HS films – a trait shared by both Irish starting CB for 2011 (Blanton and Gray).

Kelly's recruiting profile: Skill
Returning cornerbacks: Robert Blanton, Gary Gray, Lo Wood (Note: Freshman wide receiver Bennett Jackson is reportedly moving to cornerback)
Returning safeties: Dan McCarthy, Zeke Motta, Jamoris Slaughter, Harrison Smith (Note: 2010 recruit Chris Badger will re-join the squad in 2012 after the completion of his religious mission).

Baumhower on Hardy: A year ago, Notre Dame probably wasn't even in Hardy's top 10. The coaching staff did an outstanding job of recruiting him. Hardy has a confident attitude that Notre Dame needs to get to the next level.

Berk on Hardy: It's been a joy covering the rise of Eilar Hardy – the ultimate "RKG" – over the last couple years, and his eventual decision to attend Notre Dame. What I love about Eilar is his willingness to compete against anyone and no matter the outcome, he still has a smile on his face and is looking forward to the next battle. One of my all-time favorites of the past ten years.
