All Irish: Matthias Farley

IrishEyes continues its early signing day coverage with a profile of one of the class's best athletes, North Carolina product Matthias Farley.

Matthias Farley (CB/S/Athlete – 6'1/185): Likely the most versatile of four DB recruits, Farley will most likely help on both offense and defense over the course of his career and is a good bet to debut on special teams this fall – the same path to playing time taken by four DB/WR prospects in the 2010 class last year…Get him in, get him in the strength and conditioning program – watch the athlete become a football player…My top choice to evolve into a (future) starting free safety among incoming freshmen.

Kelly recruiting profile: Skill
Returning Cornerbacks: Robert Blanton, Gary Gray, Lo Wood (Note: Bennett Jackson has reportedly switched from WR to CB)
Returning Safeties: Dan McCarthy, Zeke Motta, Jamoris Slaughter, Harrison Smith (2010 Early Enrollee Chris Badger will return to the Irish roster in 2012 after completion of his religious mission).

Baumhower on Farley: He's a raw athlete that never played football until two years ago. It will take some time for him to develop, but he might be the fastest player in this class.

Berk on Farley: The type of player the Irish will look to groom into the player they want. Farley will start on the defensive side of the ball and could play corner or safety. Raw player who will get better as he gets some coaching at the college level.
