All Irish: Josh Atkinson

Among the fastest of Irish recruits in the 2011 class, Josh Atkinson signed his letter of intent this morning to join his brother, George, at Notre Dame.

Josh Atkinson (CB – 6'0/180): Speed to burn on the outside as one of four incoming CB prospects in the 2011 class…Open to a role at CB, S or on either kick-off team and could make an early special teams splash next fall as did five members of the class of 2011 including Special Teams Player of the Year, Bennett Jackson (Of the five, only Lo Wood was an Early Enrollee)…Son of former NFL great George Atkinson and brother George will also join the Irish today

Kelly recruiting profile: Skill
Returning cornerbacks: Robert Blanton, Gary Gray, Lo Wood (Note: Freshman wide receiver Bennett Jackson is reportedly moving to cornerback)
Returning safeties: Dan McCarthy, Zeke Motta, Jamoris Slaughter, Harrison Smith (Note: 2010 recruit Chris Badger will re-join the squad in 2012 after the completion of his religious mission).

Baumhower on Atkinson: One of five commitments to compete in the "USA vs. The World" contest on National Signing Day. He didn't have a ball caught on him his entire senior season. For most of his recruitment he had Oregon as his leader, but once he stepped onto the Notre Dame campus, he fell in love with the school.

Berk on Atkinson: While the focus has been given to brother, George, Josh has skills and will be a welcomed addition to the Irish. His speed will give him an early chance to see the field.
