With the offer, Mentor (Ohio) defensive end Tom Strobel added to his ever-growing offer list. Having visited Notre Dame, Strobel knows more about the Irish than some of the others who have offered.
"I went to the Pitt game and really liked the tradition and found the campus to be great. A lot of colleges I have been to have a bunch of roads, Notre Dame was gorges with all of the trees."
While the Irish offer excites the 6-foot-6, 240-pound lineman, he knows it is still early.
"It is just too early right now to have a favorite. I am not leaning towards one school or another, I really do not know a lot about all the schools."
While it may be early, Tom has a plan on when he would like to have the recruiting process over.
"I feel like I will commit before next season so I can get it off my shoulders. Right now I'm just trying to enjoy the process and have some fun."
As for distance away from home, Tom has some thoughts but knows it will all depend upon the education.
"I do not want to go too far away, however, I want to make sure I get a degree and a great educational experience so I have success in the future."
As for any combine or camp plans, Tom only has one event on his calendar to date.
"I know I will be going to Ohio State camp on June 13 as our team will be going there."
Irish Eyes will continue to follow Tom during the course of the next several months until he makes his college decision known.
