Schutt is Hitting the Road

It appears that junior Tommy Schutt from Glenbard West High School (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) will be one of the most sought after defensive lineman in the Midwest in the class of 2012. Schutt is going to get out and see as many schools as he can this spring.

Notre Dame is holding its first junior day this weekend, but it doesn't appear that four-star defensive tackle Tommy Schutt (6-foot-3, 290-pounds) will make it to South Bend.

"I'm actually not going to go to Notre Dame this weekend," Schutt said. "I decided that I wanted to go to Ohio State instead. They have a basketball game on Sunday, so I thought it would be cool to go see that, as well as getting a chance to see their campus.

"I am looking to get up there in the next couple weeks for sure. We were talking about getting up there for a spring practice. I really could just get over there for a day if I want to see the campus, and they said that would be fine."

Schutt already holds 17 scholarship offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Oregon, USC and others.

"I really don't have a list of favorites or anything," Schutt said. "I'm really open to everyone right now. I'm sure I'll start to get an idea of what I want to do after I get some visits.

"The last schools to have offered me have been USC and Oregon. Those were the most recent. It was pretty exciting to get those offers. Those two are pretty cool and I definitely want to see those schools.

"I really haven't looked into them too much," he said. "I'm just trying to find some time this summer where I can get out and go." Top Stories
